Supporting the Mental Health of Wisconsin Farmers

Farm Well Wisconsin, funded by a Wisconsin Partnership Program five-year Community Impact Grant to Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action Program, is building resources, resilience and community to address the unique mental health challenges and risks facing Wisconsin farmers.

Over the course of the grant the Farm Well team has opened up dialogue and offered resources to reduce the stigma around mental health and suicide, as well as helped train doctors, families and community members to recognize signs of distress in farmers.

Farm Well’s outreach programs have reached more than 1,200 participants in five counties: Green, Grant, Lafayette, Iowa and Richland. The resulting network of support and resources has been vital to the health and well-being of the region’s farming community.
