WPP announces New Investigator funding opportunity

The Wisconsin Partnership Program (WPP) at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health invites eligible faculty to submit a preliminary application for a New Investigator Program grant.

Through this grant program, the Wisconsin Partnership Program supports early-career faculty to initiate new, innovative research and education pilot projects to improve health and health care and to advance health for all in Wisconsin and beyond. Awards are up to $150,000 over two years.

Preliminary applications are due June 30, 2026.

A principal investigator is required and must be a UW School of Medicine and Public Health assistant professor with an appointment of at least 50 percent. Please review the request for proposals for full eligibility requirements. Eligible faculty in basic, clinical, population health, and applied science departments and centers across the UW School of Medicine and Public Health are encouraged to apply.

The New Investigator Program is designed to develop and sustain the academic and research excellence of early-career School of Medicine and Public Health faculty. To date, this grant program has contributed to launching the careers of 103 assistant professors through grants totaling $14 million. Grantees’ work, which spans the spectrum of basic science, clinical and translational and applied public and community health research, has leveraged $58 million.

The Wisconsin Partnership Program’s Partnership Education and Research Committee plans to fund up to eight projects.
